October 25, 2019 –

The Dairy Processors Association of Canada (DPAC) congratulates Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada on winning a plurality of seats in the federal election of October 21, 2019. DPAC looks forward to working constructively with the Government on files pertinent to the dairy sector.

“During the 42nd Parliament, we engaged closely and regularly with the Government, consistently looking for mutually-beneficial policy solutions to important issues” said Mathieu Frigon, Chief Executive Officer and President of DPAC. “We will take the same approach with this new Liberal Government.”

DPAC’s top priority in the coming weeks will be to secure compensation for the economic harm felt by dairy processors as a result of the recently signed trade agreements. “A compensation package was not delivered before the dissolution of Parliament in early September, but the Liberal platform made clear the party’s intent to deliver this package as soon as practicable,” explained Mr. Frigon.

DPAC would also like to congratulate the Conservative Party of Canada for forming the Official Opposition, as well as all other parties and individuals elected to the 43rd Parliament. DPAC looks forward to working with all members of Parliament to ensure a bright future for the Canadian dairy processing industry.
